The Australian Government, via the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources, has recently announced a grant of up to $25,000 for small and medium food and beverage manufacturing businesses to assist with energy-saving projects.
Food and beverage manufacturing businesses who employee between 1 and 199 staff can apply for the grant which offers amounts between $10,000 and $25,000 to help businesses to improve their energy efficiency through a variety of projects.
These energy efficient initiatives may include but are not limited to:
- Replacing equipment like a refrigerator with a more efficient unit, a boiler with a heat pump, or a steam steriliser with a UV steriliser.
- Modifying existing systems to run more efficiently like installing variable speed drives on pumps, installing heat recovery, or automatic controls.
- Undertaking energy management activities, energy audits and engineering feasibility studies.
- Investing in energy monitoring and management systems.
No co-contribution is required to be eligible for the grant, meaning the project and/or purchases can be fully covered by the grant alone.
Applications for the grant are open from 12 January 2022 and close at 5pm (EDT) Friday 18 February 2022 or until each individual States’ funding allocation is exhausted.
