Super Changes for under 18s

From 1 July 2022, the $450-per-month threshold for super guarantee is being removed. This means that you will need to pay super for your employees who are under 18 years old if they work for you more than 30 hours per week.

These employees who are under 18 will now be eligible for super if they work more than 30 hours in a week, regardless of how much they’re paid.

The employee won’t be entitled to super for any weeks that they work less than 30 hours for the employer.

Businesses are reminded to check their payroll and accounting systems are up to date from 1 July 2022 so as to correctly calculate employees’ super guarantee payments.
